In service under the tarpaulin on January 11, 2005 In January of every year Books For Africa Library Project holds a one day in-service for the towns where we have already set up libraries and for the new towns that have applied. This meeting of over 70 people is convened under a tarpaulin in front of the library in Kukurantumi. The tarpaulin helps keep the sun off the participants but it is hot underneath it. If it should rain on the scheduled day there is no local facility which could serve as a meeting place and a caterer. Hilda is planning on building a meeting hall with attached rooms where the annual in service could take place. During the other months of the year the facility would be used to in service librarians on the best practices. As of October 2006 we have engaged an architect in Ghana to draw up plans for the Conference Center and attached dormitory and kitchen. |
