1. Donating Books to the Library Project 2. How to Donate Money We are now collecting books in the Phoenix, AZ area for shipment in September 2011. To donate books please click on 'Contact us' 2. How to Donate Money Most of our annual budget is spent shipping the books from Phoenix, AZ to our warehouse in Kukurantumi, Ghana. We are able to pack 36,000 books in one forty foot shipping container. We personally guide the shipment through the port of Ghana, and then hire a tractor trailer to take the container to the warehouse. All of these expenses are part of the shipping costs. Our budget for 2010 – 2011 for gathering the books in the USA, shipping them to Ghana and distributing them to the new libraries is $25,000. This includes no salaries except for the staff of the main library warehouse in Kukurantumi. Make checks payable to: Books For Africa Library Project (Donations are tax deductible. We were approved by the IRS as a 501c3 non-profit corporation in 1999 and renewed in 2004. At renewal time we had to prove to the IRS that we were a publicly supported corporation.) Donations of $25, $35, $50, $100 or more would greatly help with the cost of the shipping and opening of the libraries.
