Progress report on the translation of AA literature into Ghanaian languages. On the recommendation of AA friends in the U.S.A. the fledgling AA Intergroup in Accra, Ghana is pursuing the translation of "the Big Book" of Alcoholics Anonymous and some AA pamphlets into several Ghanaian languages. As of December 2010 we are half way through the translation of the Big Book into Twi The following AA literature has been translated into the Twi language, the most widely spoken vernacular in Ghana: This is AA, A Newcomer Asks, and 12 Steps Illustrated. The World Service Office of AA in New York City is currently reviewing this material in preparation for printing. Several pieces of AA literature have also been translated into Ewe, another widely spoken Ghanaian language. These pieces are: Chapter Five of Alcoholics Anonymous, This is AA and A Newcomer Asks. These will be submitted to the WSO soon. Books for Africa has sent over $4000 worth of AA literature to Ghana. Copies of Alcoholics Anonymous and 12 Steps and 12 Traditions were given to each of the 48 libraries set up by The Books For Africa Library Project. . |
